神田と言えば、学生街。高層ビルに生まれ変わった明治大学も、一歩入れば緑がいっぱい。
スクールカラーをイメージしたフジ、校歌にあやかったハクウンボクなど、植栽も遊び心にあふれています。
そして山の上ホテルにはびっしりとツタで覆われた不思議なタワーが。初夏はもちろん、紅葉の季節には燃えるような赤から黄のグラデーションを描き出します。
古くから栄えた街だけに、ビルが建ち並んだいまも、古木がそれとなく保存されています。そしてお茶の水の代名詞でもある深い堀。尽きない発見が二人をどこまでも誘っていく、魅力に満ちた街でした。

人参、大根、かぶ などを料理した際に残ったヘタや、西瓜、チェリー、トマトを食べた後に残った種を育てる。
日常的に、しかも際限なくたまっていく様々なプラスチック容器などを組み合わせてお手製プランターを作る。
土を盛り、水を注ぐ、静けさの中にプツ プツ プツと、音が響く。土が乾いたら、また水をやり、耳を澄ます。
幾日か経つと、芽が出て来る。そうするうちに「残りモノの庭」が出来ていった。この動画は友人と食べたアメリカンチェリーの物語です。

“etude no.36 water and dry earth”

I have grown plants from the seeds and heads of the vegetable or fruits after eating, the ones that I had purchased from supermarkets for cooking; heads of carrots or Chinese radish, and seeds of watermelon, cherry, or tomato for example. I also make planters from all kinds of wastes; plastic bottles, other types of containers, and disposable cups. When you give some water to the plants, you can listen to the sound of the dry earth absorbing the water. After a year, I eventually made the garden of left overs. This video work is about one story of the seeds of American Cherry that I ate with my friends.
